Front Door Mosaic Number Course | £240

A classic Victorian Black & White or a more modern colorful one? How would you like to create your front door number?

These two days mosaic course will give you the opportunity to create your own made door number to be placed outside or inside your home !

This course is tailored to suit both beginners and those looking to improve their mosaic skills.

What you will make

You will create a 20 cm diameter circle mosaic using the Direct technique, gluing your mosaic pieces directly into the wooden frame using tweezers and tile adhesive.

A wide range of mosaic materials such as unglazed and glass tiles are to your disposition to help your creativity for creating your unique mosaic.
A plywood circle frame will be used as base for your number and you can vanish it as you please to be outside or inside.

The workshop includes all mosaic materials & tools, and wooden frame.

Number fonts will be available to take inspiration from it.

Please note the course will run only with a minimum of 3 people

DIRECT TECHNIQUE

Direct Technique is when the tesserae (mosaic pieces) are glued directly on the wooden support like in roman time, using twezzers and tile adhesive.

COURSE CONTENTS

SATURDAY & SATURDAY:

Introduction to the course and the technique

Selection of design font. Drawing the number on paper and work on the Andamento, layout, to translate the design into a mosaic

Tracing the design onto the playwood frame

Decide material and colour to use to create your door number

Learning how to cut and shape tiles to create your own mosaic using mosaic tools

Start to create your mosaic using the Direct method : gluing your tesserae directly onto the wooden support

Complete your mosaic

Grouting and final cleaning
